RED BALLOON by PENNY IKINGER and BURNING SAND

“Red Balloon” was recorded between and during lockdowns in Melbourne in 2021. The lockdowns in Melbourne lasted on and off for two years. They presented their own set of challenges. Music helped see me through these difficult periods. This was a time where my travels were restricted to a 5 km zone when I was allowed out for one hour a day, putting a halt to touring for myself and countless other musicians around the world. “Red Balloon” is a collaborative piece with words and vocals by me; and keyboards, guitar, and bass by instrumental solo artist Burning Sand, who also composed the music. The heavenly vocal harmony layers were sung by Marita Dyson from The Orbweavers (Melbourne). This track tells a tale of the imaginary travels of myself and a red balloon.
